Most people worldwide know about the spiritual relevance of the city of Mecca. Manicured parks with sculpted shrubbery, playgrounds, and soccer fields dot the city, and the old city gives a glimpse into life in ancient Mecca. The Ottomans first began a push for education in Mecca which has continued today with public schools, private schools, and Umm Al-Qura University.
